Is there a way to remove the door latch without removing the window or regulator of your 1940 Ford car or truck? The answer is yes, it is possible. Removing the window can be tricky, but you can avoid it, if you only want to replace the spring on the latch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Open window about one inch<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Remove inside handles (door and window) and inspection cover<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. Remove outside door handle<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. Remove the seven screws that hold the door latch<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5. Remove the five screws of the window regulator<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

6. Push down the window with regulator attached (push regulator a bit inside because of the window handle pin)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

7. Push regulator inside again and pull the door latch down between door and regulator<\/p>\n\n\n\n

8. Push window\/regulator up and remove door latch through inspection cover<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That’s it. Door was from a a 1940 1.5 ton truck (01-T), but should work for many other Ford cars and trucks from the 30th and 40th.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
