Here is a step by step tutorial for removing the rear axle shafts on a Opel/Vauxhall Frontera B (1998–2004). We also made a YouTube video for this if you prefer watching it as a video.
1. remove the 6 wheel nuts.

2. disconnect the brake line from the brake caliper. Note that brake fluid will leak out.

3. loosen the retaining screws on the brake caliper.

4. remove the brake caliper.

5. loosen the retaining screws on the brake caliper bracket.

6. after you removed the brake caliper bracket, remove the brake drum/disk.

7. Next, remove the brake shoes by unhooking the spring retainers…

…unkooking the upper springs…

…removing the upper bracket…

…and unkooking the emergency brake cable.

8. To remove the emergency brake cable (inside view on next picture)…

…loose the two screws on the backside.

9. Use a hammer and gently hammer (from inside to outside) the brake anchor plate

10. As soon as a small gap appears, the axle can be carefully loosened with a screwdriver or crowbar. Always hammer carefully.

11. Now you can pull the axle out. CAUTION: if you have not drained your differential, oil might be leaking out.
